Peacekeepers Service

10:00 – 11:00 28-05-2016
Anzac Square, Brisbane CBD

This year will celebrate the 69th Anniversary of United Nations Peace Keeping.  Australians were part of the first group of Military Observers in Indonesia in 1947 and have continued as Australian UN Peacekeepers since that time. Since September 1947, over 60,000 Australians have been involved in peace keeping and humanitarian operations.

In partnership with the Australian Peacekeepers and Veterans Peacekeepers Association, South Queensland (APPVA) we are holding a special UN Peacekeepers Service on Saturday 28th May. The service will honour the men and women who have served and continue to serve in UN peace keeping operations. It will also pay tribute to those who have lost their lives in the cause of peace.

The ceremony will commence at 10am on Saturday 28 May at Anzac Square, Brisbane CBD, preceded by the march from King George Square (assembling at 9.30) to Anzac Square.
